What’s with all the winter sweating?

A lot of winter sweating may be due to physiologic or pathologic reasons. For physiological reasons, some patients may have excessive sweating due to thick clothing or hot environment; for pathological reasons, patients with infections, hyperthyroidism, genetic defects, etc. may also experience increased sweating in winter. 1. Physiological reasons: in winter, over-thick clothing, high indoor temperature, over-excited emotions, etc., will trigger an increase in sweat, and some women will also experience an increase in sweat in winter due to pregnancy. 2. Pathologic causes: In clinical hyperhidrosis, there is an increase in sweat, which can be caused by a variety of reasons. (1) Primary hyperhidrosis: the cause of this disease is related to genetic inheritance. (2) secondary hyperhidrosis: often due to disease factors (such as infection, hyperthyroidism, diabetes, nerve damage, perimenopausal syndrome, etc.), as well as drug factors (such as tricyclic antidepressants, antipyretic and analgesic drugs, antiemetic drugs, etc.). There may be other reasons for increased sweating in winter, so it is recommended to go to the hospital in time, improve the examination to clarify the cause of the disease, and then give targeted treatment or therapy.
