Indications for Hyperthyroidism Surgery

Hyperthyroidism is short for hyperthyroidism. Surgery for hyperthyroidism is suitable for patients with significant enlargement of the thyroid gland and pressure symptoms; moderate or severe hyperthyroidism, ineffective long-term medication, or recurrence after stopping medication or inability to adhere to the medication; retrosternal goiter; fine needle aspiration cytology confirms thyroid cancer or suspicion of malignant changes, and so on. For pregnant patients who are ineffective or allergic to antithyroid medication, hyperthyroidism surgery needs to be performed in the T2 stage of pregnancy (4~6 months). Currently, the surgical treatment of hyperthyroidism is more effective, with high cure rate and low recurrence rate, and the recurrence rate after total resection is almost 0. It is recommended that patients with hyperthyroidism needing surgical treatment should go to regular hospitals for consultation and treatment, so as to avoid delaying their condition.
