Principles of External Strabismus Surgery

Exotropia surgery works by adjusting the position of the attachment points of the extraocular muscles and the amount of extraocular muscle tension, thereby restoring balance to the eye position.
Exotropia is a common ophthalmic condition that occurs when both eyes gaze straight ahead with the direction of vision in one eye pointing toward the target and the direction of vision in the other eye favoring the outside. Patients with external strabismus can be treated with surgery to balance their eye position and improve their appearance.
The principle of strabismus surgery is to change the attachment point of the extraocular muscles on the eyeball wall or change the tension of the extraocular muscles, so that the direction of vision of both eyes can return to the normal state, such as External Rectus Muscle Rearward Migration, Internal Rectus Muscle Shortening and so on.
It is recommended that patients with external strabismus should consult the hospital in time to evaluate their condition and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment.
