What to do if a child has prickly heat

Children with prickly heat can be treated with general treatment and medication. 1. General treatment: keep the room ventilated, don’t give children tight clothes in summer, and keep the skin dry. Usually it can be cured after a few days. 2. If children’s itching persists, medication is needed. Commonly used medications include topical medications, systemic medications, and anti-infective medications. Topical drugs: such as prickly heat powder, used to inhibit the regeneration of prickly heat, stop itching; glycerite lotion, if the itching is obvious can be used to relieve itching symptoms; topical glucocorticoid, used to control inflammation. Systemic drugs: antihistamines, such as loratadine, are used to relieve inflammation and itching. Anti-infective drugs: for patients with skin damage inflammation and serious infection, commonly used drugs are penicillin, clindamycin and so on. If children have prickly heat, it is recommended to go to a regular medical institution in time, follow the specialist doctor’s instructions to standardize the treatment, avoid blind self-medication, so as not to cause adverse consequences.
