Do you know about Parkinson’s disease?

Do you know about Parkinson’s disease? Parkinson’s disease is a degenerative disease of the nervous system and is common among middle-aged and elderly people, with a trend toward younger onset. There are currently about 2 million Parkinson’s disease patients in China, accounting for about 50% of the world, and it is estimated that 100,000 new Parkinson’s disease patients will be diagnosed each year. According to statistics, about 48% of Chinese patients are not aware that they have the disease, and most of them have not been properly diagnosed and treated for a long time. This is related to the misunderstanding and misdiagnosis of the disease by patients and doctors. In addition, Professor Liang Zhanhua pointed out that the onset of Parkinson’s disease is slow, early symptoms are not typical, and there are individual differences, generally divided into the following five conditions. Clinical manifestations]: 1, resting tremor tremor is often the first symptom, mostly starting with a “pill-rubbing” tremor of one finger. But “trembling” ≠ Parkinson’s disease! Is Parkinson’s disease the result of shaking hands? In fact, about half of Parkinson’s patients will have tremors, and some other causes of tremors are not Parkinson’s disease. The experts suggest that if you find tremors in the limbs, it is essential to consult a specialist in time, not to “turn a blind eye” and not to “panic”. 2, muscle stiffness Another half of the patients first symptoms are only muscle stiffness, early mostly from unilateral limbs, patients feel stiff joints and muscle tightness, often to the orthopedics, pain department because of pain, but also often misdiagnosed as “cervical spondylosis, lumbar spondylosis” and other missed early treatment. If the facial muscles are stiff, there will be a reduction in expression, which is the “mask face”. This symptom is similar to the natural aging process of human beings, so people mistakenly think that “people are old and become inflexible”. Therefore, it is often taken lightly. Professor Liang Zhanhua pointed out that some patients also missed the diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease because of the superimposed “brain atrophy” and “cerebral thrombosis” and other diseases of the elderly, and missed the best time for treatment. 4, postural balance disorder in the early stage of the disease, manifested as walking the affected upper limb swing amplitude reduced or disappeared, the lower limb dragging. As the disease progresses, sometimes the whole body freezes during walking, called the “freezing” phenomenon. Sometimes, after taking a step, the faster you walk, the faster you can’t stop at will, called “panic gait”. 5, non-motor symptoms most of the patients will have the onset of voice intonation, smell loss, salivation, most patients have excessive sweating, constipation, sleep disorders and other symptoms. Nearly half of the patients have depression and anxiety, and some patients have psychiatric symptoms even before the onset of Parkinson’s disease and are misdiagnosed as “depression and anxiety disorder”.
