How long can you live with blood dialysis?

The survival of uremic patients after treatment by hemodialysis is mainly related to factors such as patient’s physical condition, age and diet control. Hemodialysis is a method of alternative treatment for uremic patients, which prolongs the survival of patients by purifying human blood through hemodialysis. Most patients die as a result of complications caused by uremia, and hemodialysis can significantly delay the onset of complications. For young uremic patients who maintain hemodialysis and are in good health, the survival period can be maintained for 5-10 years or even more than 10 years, while for elderly patients who are in poor health or have combined chronic diseases, the survival period is about 3-5 years. The better the results of hemodialysis for uremic patients the lower the chance of complications and the longer the survival period of the patient. Patients with uremia must promptly visit the nephrology department of a regular hospital, actively maintain hemodialysis treatment, take regular rest and rest, avoid foods high in potassium and phosphorus, and regularly monitor the effects of dialysis.
