Where is the pubic symphysis?

The pubic symphysis is above the clitoris and inside the pubic mound, and some patients with pubic symphysis pain in late pregnancy show pain in the above areas, which is mostly caused by the body’s oversensitivity to relaxin in late pregnancy. Relaxin is a hormone normally secreted in late pregnancy, which can relax the pelvic ligaments to facilitate labor. However, in some cases, over-sensitivity to relaxin can cause separation of the pubic symphysis, resulting in pubic bone pain, and in severe cases, even inability to walk. There is no specific treatment for pubalgia, and it will gradually subside 1-2 months after the end of pregnancy, but pubalgia does not affect vaginal delivery.
