Why did you have a miscarriage?

Some female patients suffer from infertility and finally succeed in pregnancy with the joint efforts of doctors and patients, but start to worry if they will miscarry. So, why does miscarriage occur?
Miscarriage is a common complication of early pregnancy. According to statistics, only 30-50% of women’s pregnancies can end up being carried to a successful delivery. As for the loss of pregnancy earlier, such as 20-23 days of pregnancy, there are no statistics because many women do not know they are pregnant at this time. The risk of miscarriage is highly correlated with the week of pregnancy, with approximately 25% of miscarriages occurring within 6 weeks of pregnancy.
The causes of miscarriage are not well understood. The following are the possible causes of miscarriage in early pregnancy
  1. Fetal chromosomal abnormalities
About half of all miscarriages are related to fetal chromosomal abnormalities, and early miscarriages have a higher risk of chromosomal abnormalities than late miscarriages. The most common fetal chromosomal abnormality is autosomal trisomy, and molecular studies have shown that 90% of these arise from meiotic abnormalities.
  2. Age of women and men
There is a clear correlation between miscarriage and female age. The risk of fetal chromosomal abnormalities increases with age, which may explain the majority of miscarriages in older women. The age of men is also associated with miscarriage, but not as much as the age of women.
  3. Women’s previous pregnancy history
Studies have shown that having a miscarriage doubles the risk of miscarriage in the next pregnancy. Conversely, one successful delivery reduces the risk of miscarriage in the next pregnancy. Also, women with long years of previous infertility have a higher risk of miscarriage than women with short-term pregnancies.
  4.Women’s weight
A woman with low weight in early pregnancy has a 75% higher risk of miscarriage than a woman with normal weight.
  5.Diet
Women who consume enough green vegetables, fruits, milk and fish during early pregnancy have a lower risk of miscarriage.
  6. Caffeine
Less intake of caffeine-containing foods such as coffee, tea, other functional drinks containing caffeine may reduce the risk of miscarriage.
  7, alcohol consumption
Alcoholic women have a high risk of miscarriage.
  8, smoking
Most people believe that smoking before and during pregnancy increases the risk of miscarriage.
  9, physical and mental stress
Stress from life or work, anxiety can increase the risk of miscarriage.
