Can congenital myopia be operated on?

Whether congenital myopia can be operated depends on the patient’s own conditions. If the patient is over 18 years old and meets the indications and has no contraindications, he/she can have the surgery. For surgical treatment of congenital myopia, patients need to be 18 to 55 years old and have no more than 1,200 degrees of myopia and no more than 600 degrees of astigmatism. In addition, patients should not have active inflammation of the eye, heart disease, high blood pressure and other diseases. People with unstable refractive status should also be prohibited from undergoing myopic surgery. If a patient with congenital myopia meets the above criteria, he or she can undergo myopic surgery, otherwise it is not allowed. For surgical treatment of congenital myopia, appropriate surgical methods, such as laser myopia correction surgery and IOL replacement surgery, should be chosen to correct myopia under the doctor’s comprehensive judgment. Whether a patient with congenital myopia can undergo surgery depends on whether the indications are met without contraindications.
