Facial Muscle Spasms Oxcarbazepine Tablets How Many Times a Day

Patients with facial muscle spasms take oxcarbazepine tablets, usually twice a day, as prescribed by their doctor. Oxcarbazepine may be taken at the onset of facial muscle spasms, and the starting dose may be 600 mg, given in two divided doses. If the effect is not satisfactory, the daily dose can be increased every other week, but each increase should not exceed 600 mg. In the case of children, the therapeutic dose of the medication is 8 to 10 milligrams per kilogram, given in two divided doses per day. Common adverse reactions after administration include dizziness, headache, nausea, vomiting, and generalized weakness. It is contraindicated in patients who are allergic to the components of the product and in patients with atrioventricular block. Oxcarbazepine is a prescription medication and is recommended to be used after seeking medical attention to minimize possible side effects of the drug.
