Generally speaking, in the pathology report of breast cancer patients, when we see the immunohistochemistry result of HER-2(2+), it is impossible to determine whether the patient is HER-2 positive or not, and HER-2(2+) can be considered as critical. In order to further distinguish whether the patient is positive or not, we have to add FISH test, and if the test indicates positive gene amplification, we can determine whether the patient is HER-2 positive. If the FISH test is negative for amplification, then we can determine that the patient is HER-2 positive and does not need to do Herceptin targeted therapy.
