There is no clear information on the role of umeboshi and jujube in improving allergies. Wu Mei can astringe the lungs (collect lung qi), generate fluid, astringe the intestines and tranquilize roundworms, while jujube can tonify the middle Jiao (treating qi deficiency by tonifying the spleen) and nourish the blood and tranquilize the mind.
Umei has a sour, astringent flavor and is flat in nature. It belongs to the foot syncopal liver meridian, foot taiyin spleen meridian, hand taiyin lung meridian and hand yangming large intestine meridian. It is often used to treat symptoms such as prolonged cough due to lung deficiency, prolonged diarrhea and dysentery, deficiency heat and thirst, ascariasis and vomiting. Umei is used to treat prolonged diarrhea caused by deficiency of the middle jiao or spleen and kidney yang, or even undigested food in the stool, and is used with nutmeg and ginseng.
Jujube is sweet in flavor and warm in nature. It belongs to the stomach, spleen and heart meridians. It can be used to treat symptoms such as deficiency of the spleen with little food, weakness and loose stools (thin, unformed feces), and women’s dirty agitation (upset and depressed, feeling sad and wanting to cry for no reason). Jujube is often paired with licorice and wheat for treating dirty agitation; for treating blood deficiency and atrophy, it is often used in conjunction with ripened dihuang and aconite.
The efficacy of taking umeboshi and jujube alone is limited, and cannot replace the medication to treat the disease, if you are not feeling well, it is recommended to go to the hospital in time.
