Recurrent genital herpes, which manifests as skin damage at the original site, has milder symptoms compared to the primary infection and may recur. The skin lesions usually appear at the original site 1 to 4 months after the initial infection. Most skin eruptions are preceded by a burning or pins and needles sensation. The disease is mild compared to the primary infection and has a shorter duration, usually 7 to 10 days. In some cases, recurrence occurs several times at intervals of 2 to 3 months or months. Gay patients may involve the rectum, anus and other parts of the manifestation, for localized pain, constipation, perianal ulcers, and in some cases, there will be a rush of symptoms. Recurrent genital herpes should seek medical attention and treatment as prescribed by the doctor.
