Which is accurate, prostate puncture biopsy or MRI?

A prostate biopsy is more accurate than an MRI for diagnosis. A prostate biopsy is the gold standard for prostate cancer diagnosis. It is performed by puncturing the lesion and removing a portion of the prostate tissue for pathologic examination to determine whether prostate cancer is present and its pathologic type. MRI is used to observe the size, density and surrounding tissues of the prostate to determine whether there is any abnormality in the prostate gland and to stage the disease initially. However, to establish the diagnosis of prostate cancer, a biopsy of the prostate gland is required. In summary, MRI can be used as a screening tool, but the diagnosis still needs to be confirmed by puncture biopsy. It is recommended to consult a professional doctor for standardized diagnosis and treatment.
