The course of acupuncture treatment for lumbar disc herniation depends on the severity of the patient’s condition, the doctor’s level of care and the specific treatment plan. Usually 1-2 times/day, 7-10 days is a course of treatment. Most of the patients cannot be treated by acupuncture alone. Moxibustion treatment is performed when the meridians are not working, which can unblock the meridians and harmonize the qi and blood, and if the patient has bone misalignment or tendons out of the groove, other treatment modalities, such as massage and pain medication, should be combined.
