How long does it take for a white spot in the mouth to become cancerous?

It is not clear how long it will take for oral white spots to become cancerous, it is mainly related to the individual situation of the patient, and should be analyzed in a specific way, not to be generalized. Oral leukoplakia, i.e. oral mucosa leukoplakia, is a kind of precancerous lesion, but the exact time of cancer cannot be predicted accurately. Some studies show that the cancer rate of oral white spots patients is 3%-5%. In other words, most of the patients will not become cancerous, so there is no need to be overly nervous, and they can actively cooperate with doctors to take appropriate treatment when the lesions are found. However, it should be noted that there is no cure for oral leukoplakia, and the risk of oral cancer is still higher than that of the general population even if the white spots are eliminated after treatment. Therefore, patients with oral leukoplakia should closely observe the changes of the lesions while undergoing treatment and review them regularly in order to detect the signs of cancer and treat them in a timely manner.
