What can varicocele cause

Varicocele can cause male infertility, reduced testicular size and other complications.
Varicocele is one of the main causes of male infertility. The cause of male infertility due to this disease has not been elucidated so far, and it may be related to local venous return obstruction, venous dilatation and stasis, elevated local temperature, carbon dioxide accumulation in testicular tissues, and elevated concentration of catecholamines, cortisol, and prostaglandins in the blood, and other factors.
There are abundant anastomotic branches between the venous systems of both testes, so varicocele on one side can affect the spermatogenic function of both testes, and thus can lead to male infertility.
Varicocele can also affect the level of sex hormone secretion. If a prepubertal boy suffers from this disease, it can cause abnormal testicular development, resulting in a reduction in testicular size.
If you are suffering from varicocele, it is recommended that you seek medical attention as soon as possible to avoid delays.
