When you wake up in the morning with edema of the eyes, you need to exclude a lot of diseases, and you need to make a judgment from the location of the lesion. If the edema is unilateral, it may be trauma, allergy, inflammation of the eye, mosquito bites, etc., which requires a visit to a different department. In case of bilateral edema, it is necessary to exclude heart disease, kidney disease, rheumatic system disease, as well as edema caused by drinking too much water before bedtime which cannot be eliminated during the night. Kidney disease is associated with increased foam in the urine, heart disease with palpitations after activity, endocrine system disease with thyroid and blood sugar abnormalities, and rheumatologic system disease with bilateral joint stiffness, or hair loss, bilateral flank erythema, and so on. In some people, excessive water intake before bedtime cannot be eliminated at night, and bilateral eyelid edema can occur, which requires careful differential diagnosis to avoid delaying the treatment of the disease.
