Difference between edible and medicinal wormwood

Edible mugwort is usually fresh mugwort leaves, and medicinal mugwort is usually aged mugwort after drying and concocting. 1. Edible mugwort refers to fresh mugwort leaves, which are freshly picked in May every year and are suitable for making various snacks, such as green dumplings and mugwort dumplings. 2. Medicinal mugwort is generally picked to remove impurities, sun-dried or shade-dried, the dried leaves of the plant Asteraceae. Its flavor is bitter, pungent and warm; it is slightly poisonous. It belongs to the liver, spleen and kidney meridians. Its effects include warming the menstruation, stopping bleeding, dispersing cold and relieving pain, and dispelling dampness and relieving itching when used externally. It is used in the treatment of hematemesis, epistaxis, metrorrhagia (excessive menstrual flow or dripping), excessive menstrual flow, fetal leakage (a small amount of vaginal bleeding in early pregnancy), hyperemia, cold pain in the abdomen, dysmenorrhea, infertility with cold uterus; and externally for treating itching of the skin. Note that mugwort has a small poison, pay attention to the dosage when applying. Consumption of wormwood has limited active ingredients and cannot be used as a substitute for medication. If medication is needed, it is recommended to go to the hospital for treatment under the physician’s diagnosis and analysis.
