What are the symptoms of a baby with a brain injury?

Symptoms of a brain-injured baby vary depending on the condition. Mildly brain-injured babies may show symptoms such as crying and irritability. In severe cases, babies with brain injury may have symptoms such as temperature disorders, developmental delays, changes in muscle tone, and convulsions.
1. Crying and irritability: babies may have symptoms such as nausea, irritability, vomiting, and incessant crying, etc. Some babies may also have symptoms such as impaired locomotor activity, mental retardation, and lethargy.
2. Temperature disorders: if the part of the baby’s brain injury is the center of thermoregulation, then it may cause disorders of thermoregulation.
3. Developmental delay: some brain-injured babies may also show developmental delay, so brain-injured babies may have intellectual and language disabilities compared with babies of the same age.
4. Changes in muscle tone: some babies with brain injury may show increased muscle tone, which is manifested as stiffness of the limbs.
5. Convulsions: Some babies may have repeated convulsions and frequent limb twitching.
