Fever after knee arthroplasty is mainly considered as the cause of postoperative absorptive fever or infection and prosthesis reaction.
1. Postoperative absorption fever or infection: absorption fever refers to the fever caused by the absorption of aseptic necrotic material. After knee arthroplasty, there will be oozing and seepage, and the body will produce an increase in body temperature in the process of absorption, and the temperature of absorption fever is usually 38 in ℃, not more than 38.5 degrees. If the patient’s body temperature exceeds 39 ℃, we should consider whether it is caused by infection.
2. Prosthesis reaction: it is due to the reaction of the metal prosthesis in the human body, and is a very common phenomenon after knee replacement. It usually lasts for 3 months or more. The fever that occurs in the prosthesis reaction generally does not need special treatment, and can be relieved by ice packs. However, if after six months, there is still significant fever, the patient needs to return for further examination to clarify the cause.
When fever occurs after arthroplasty, the cause needs to be clarified and treated symptomatically. If there is a prolonged fever, it is necessary to repeat the consultation, the original disease treatment.
