How long does it usually take to recover from a strained ankle ligament?

Simple ankle ligament strains usually take 4-6 weeks to recover, but there are many factors that affect ligament healing, including age, physical condition, etc. The exact recovery time varies from person to person. Ankle ligament strains are more common in clinical practice, usually due to ankle sprains resulting in localized swelling and pain and limited movement of the ankle joint. The degree of ligament strain can be divided into minor strain, partial tear and complete rupture, and the first two can usually be treated conservatively. If there is a ligament rupture, an MRI of the ankle joint is usually needed to clarify the diagnosis and, if necessary, surgery may be required, with minimally invasive surgical options currently being used. After surgery, external fixation in a cast is still required, along with functional ankle exercises, with a recovery time of at least 12 weeks. In conclusion, it is important to take standardized treatment for ligament strains caused by ankle sprains to avoid missed diagnosis or misdiagnosis that may affect the best time to recover from ligament injuries.
