Down’s screening is mandatory for every pregnant woman, and in our country, it is free in most areas. Down’s screening can screen for fetuses with chromosomal developmental abnormalities, but if the Down’s screening appears to be low risk, it is normal and no further testing is needed. If the screening test is high risk, the next step is to have a non-invasive DNA test or an amniocentesis test. If the non-invasive DNA is normal, there is no need for amniocentesis, indicating that the baby is also normal. However, non-invasive DNA cannot be used as the ultimate diagnosis. If there is an abnormality in the fetus on the non-invasive DNA test, the next step must be amniocentesis to determine if the pregnancy needs to be terminated.
