Endometriosis nodules in the lungs can be treated with hormonal medications such as leuprolide acetate microspheres or goserelin under the supervision of a doctor, or with surgery.
Endometriosis refers to the presence of endometrial tissue outside the body of the uterus. Ectopic endometrium can invade any part of the body, such as the bladder, kidneys, ureters, lungs, pleura, and breast.
If it is determined that there are endometriotic nodules in the lungs, it can usually be treated with medication or surgery.
1. Medication. Gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonists, such as leuprolide acetate microspheres or goserelin, can be used under doctor’s supervision, which can cause artificial amenorrhea; danazol or progesterone can be taken to promote the shrinkage of ectopic endometrial lining; or contraceptive pills can be taken continuously for a long period of time, which can cause artificial amenorrhea.
2. Surgical treatment. If the effect of drug treatment is not good, or can not tolerate the adverse effects of drugs, or repeated attacks after stopping the drug, in this case may need to carry out lesion excision.
Patients with endometriotic nodules in the lungs are advised to consult a doctor in a timely manner and standardize the treatment under the guidance of the doctor, and not to use drugs blindly on their own.
