A misaligned IUD is usually a displaced IUD, which means that the IUD has been in use for too long, or the size of the IUD does not fit into the uterine cavity, causing a misalignment of the IUD, or a downward shift of the IUD. If the IUD is misplaced, some women do not have symptoms and only find out during an ultrasound, but some women experience bloating, stomach discomfort, and prolonged menstruation. If a woman with a T-ring has a downward displacement of the IUD, the T-ring will be exposed outside the cervical opening, which can cause irritation during sex and lead to discomfort during sex and increased leucorrhea. Therefore, if the IUD is found to be ectopic, it should be removed and replaced in a timely manner, as the ectopic IUD can cause discomfort and also lead to conception with the IUD.
