How to do meniscus regeneration surgery

At present, the more mature meniscal regeneration surgery in China domestically is based on meniscus transplantation. 1. Arthroscopic intra-articular cleaning is performed to trim the edge of the residual meniscus, create an environment suitable for meniscal implantation, and prepare meniscal grafts, using the technique of bone plugs in the anterior and posterior corners of the meniscus for the medial meniscus, and the technique of keyhole hollowing for the lateral meniscus. 2. The meniscus graft is implanted into the knee joint, and the meniscus is fixed using the inside-out suture technique, and a small incision is made inside or outside the back of the knee joint to fix the bone block of the transplanted meniscus. 3. A knee brace is worn for 6 weeks after surgery. On the first day of the operation, the quadriceps and hamstring muscles are exercised, and on the second and third day of the operation, the CPM (abbreviation of Continuous Passive Functional Exerciser) is used for knee flexion exercises. 4. Walking on the ground with crutches can be started in the first week after surgery; weight-bearing of the affected limb can be started in the third week after surgery; full weight-bearing should be started after 4-6 weeks. At 2-3 months after surgery, the affected knee joint will return to full knee flexion and extension, and you can gradually jog and jump. Meniscus transplantation is mainly used to treat unrepairable meniscus tears. Please consult with your surgeon if you need to undergo regenerative surgery.
