Oral medication can be tried for urinary stones of small size, but epinephrine has no role in promoting stone expulsion, and its indications do not include urinary stones.
For the diameter <0.6 meters, smooth surface and the lower part of the urinary tract without obstruction of renal stones can try drug excretion, such as uric acid stones can be used allopurinol, sodium bicarbonate, etc. to promote stone dissolution, cystine stones can be used α-mercaptopropionylglycine, acetylcysteine, etc. to promote stone dissolution. In some patients, the use of reasonable drugs combined with drinking more water and urinating more stones may be expelled by themselves.
For stones that are difficult to be removed on their own, other treatments should be considered, such as extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy, ureteroscopic lithotripsy, percutaneous nephrolithotomy lithotripsy, and so on. Ureterotomy for stone removal is currently used less clinically.
