Gum swelling and pain along with swelling and pain on one side of the throat may be related to acute wisdom tooth pericoronitis, acute periapical inflammation, gingivitis, which is usually treated with medication and surgery.
1. Acute wisdom teeth pericoronitis: related to incomplete eruption and blockage of wisdom teeth, patients will feel pain around the wisdom teeth. If the inflammation is more serious, it may spread to the throat and cause sore throat. Patients can use amoxicillin capsules, cefixime granules, ornidazole tablets and other drugs according to medical advice.
2. Acute periapical inflammation: it is related to bacterial infection and necrosis of gum tissue. Patients will feel the swelling and pain of the gums, if the teeth behind the gums, and the pain area is more extensive, it may involve the throat to cause sore throat. 3. Gingivitis: Gingivitis is generally an inflammation caused by plaque on the surface of teeth. Patients will feel pain in the gums.
