Necessary preparation before dental implants

1. What is a dental implant? An artificial tooth root made of pure titanium or titanium alloy is surgically implanted in the alveolar bone and restored with a porcelain crown. Artificial dental implants are strong, beautiful, durable and known as the “third set of teeth” for human beings. 2. How long does the treatment process of dental implant take? What do I need to do? After a detailed preoperative examination, the doctor will formulate a treatment plan. After the patient’s informed consent, a phase I surgery is performed in the outpatient operating room to implant the artificial root into the alveolar bone. 3-6 months later, depending on the patient’s condition, a phase II surgery (i.e., installation of a healing abutment on the upper end of the implant) is decided. 2 weeks later, the implant restoration is completed by taking the mold, making and wearing a porcelain crown. 3. Before dental implantation, we have to prepare for the following aspects. (1) Pre-dental implant design Before dental implant surgery, we must first take photos to take models and other data collection work to determine the type of restoration, implant system, the number, location, direction and length of implants, and then make templates for implant surgery so that the surgery can be performed accurately and smoothly. (2) Routine examination before dental implantation Check the site of missing tooth, gap size, width of alveolar bone, condition of alveolar ridge, condition of mucosal tissue, and select whether implantation and how many implants can be planted according to its size width and height. (3) Radiological examination mainly to understand the density and quantity of alveolar bone and the presence of disease. Dental radiographs can clearly understand the density of alveolar bone and partly understand the amount of alveolar bone. As well as the periodontal tissue, dental tissue and root tip of adjacent teeth. Maxillary surface tomographic panoramic film can understand the height of alveolar ridge, nasal floor, maxillary sinus height, inferior alveolar nerve situation, and the position of chin foramen. Spiral CT, which can accurately understand the alveolar bone height, width, accurate positioning and preoperative simulation of surgery. For implants in the posterior region, spiral CT is necessary due to the maxillary sinus height and the inferior alveolar nerve. In addition to the above 3 precautions, it is advisable to use some antibiotics prophylactically before dental implantation so that they can better inhibit bacteria.
