What does syphilis titer mean?

Syphilis titer is one of the tests for syphilis, mainly by taking the patient’s blood and checking the amount of antibodies in the serum with a special instrument, the titer is a response to the amount of antibodies in the patient’s serum, which can be combined with other test results to make a clear diagnosis of the patient’s condition. During the test, the patient’s serum is mixed with a special unheated Benzidine Red Page 1, placed in a shaker, and the shaker is adjusted to 1500-2000 revolutions per minute, and the results can be observed after 5-10 minutes. Syphilis titer is one of the criteria to determine the effectiveness of syphilis treatment. If the syphilis titer decreases after standardized treatment, it means that the treatment is effective. If the syphilis titer is found to decrease and then increase after standard treatment, it means that the treatment has failed and needs to be performed again. If the syphilis titer test result shows 1:0 negative, the pathogen has been cleared. Patients with early syphilis need to undergo regular syphilis titer testing at 3 months, 6 months and a year after standardized treatment to prevent recurrence.
