How to check for epiphyseal closure?

Self-assessment of epiphyseal closure is not accurate and scientifically based, but can be determined by age and X-ray examination to determine whether the epiphysis is closed. During normal growth and development of the body, as the age increases around 16~18 years old, the epiphyses will gradually calcify until they are completely ossified, i.e., the epiphyses will be closed. X-ray film can clearly see the state of the epiphysis, usually the most important position to check is the knee and ankle joints, these two epiphyses are related to the main changes in height. x-ray film shows a broader translucent band, it means that the epiphyses have not yet closed; the epiphyses form a tight seam, it means that the epiphyses are completely closed, the bone stops growing. Self-measurement of epiphyseal closure is not accurate, if you need to check the epiphyseal closure, it is recommended to go to the orthopedic department of a regular hospital for examination.
