How to determine fetal tricuspid regurgitation indicators

The index of fetal tricuspid regurgitation can be judged by the ratio of the area of the regurgitant bundles to the area of the right atrium, and the severity of regurgitation can be judged according to the size of the ratio.
Fetal tricuspid regurgitation can be initially detected during cardiac ultrasound examination, and quantitative determination of tricuspid regurgitation is mostly done by semi-quantitative assessment of the degree of regurgitation, that is, the ratio of the regurgitant bundle area to the area of the right atrium is used to determine the degree of regurgitation.
Under normal circumstances, the mild regurgitation ratio is mostly less than 20%; the moderate regurgitation ratio is between 20% and 40%; and the severe regurgitation ratio is usually about 40% or even more than 60%.
The size of the regurgitant volume is related to the size of the regurgitant orifice, the transvalvular pressure difference of the regurgitant valve, and the duration of regurgitation.
Therefore, the severity of fetal tricuspid regurgitation needs to be judged according to the doctor’s interview, combined with the results of related items.
According to the severity of the judgment, the next step of the treatment plan will be formulated. Generally, no special treatment may be needed for mild regurgitation, but termination of pregnancy may be necessary for more severe cases.
