What causes diaphragmatic pain

Diaphragm pain is related to abnormalities in the condition of the diaphragm itself as well as irritation from surrounding lesions. The main causes include trauma, infections, tumors, and eruptions. 1. Trauma: Trauma directly injures the diaphragm, causing pain and discomfort, and is related to local tissue irritation. 2. Infection: Peripheral infection, especially abscess formation (e.g. liver abscess, lung abscess, etc.), will stimulate the peripheral nerves of the diaphragm and cause pain and discomfort. 3. Tumor: mainly including lung cancer and liver cancer, etc., which cause invasion and destruction of the diaphragm and affect the peripheral nerves causing pain. 4. Hiccups: Repeated hiccups can cause spasm of the diaphragm, which leads to muscle tension and increased activity, causing pain and discomfort. There are other causes of diaphragm pain, which require timely medical treatment, imaging tests to determine the specific cause, and standardized treatment under the guidance of clinicians.
