How many types of hepatitis C virus are there in China?

The majority of hepatitis C viruses in China are type Ib and type IIa.
HCV is categorized into 6 major genotypes and different subtypes, which are generally expressed as abc, etc. Hepatitis C virus genotypes can be expressed as gene type Ⅰa, type Ⅰb, etc.
The distribution of hepatitis C virus genotypes is different in different regions. The most common genotype in China is genotype Ⅰb, which accounts for about more than half of the total, followed by genotype Ⅱa, and the rare ones are genotypes Ⅲ and Ⅵ.
Understanding genotyping is mainly related to the treatment of antiviral drugs and therapeutic programs. Anti-hepatitis C virus drugs are divided into two categories: gene-specific and pan-genotypic, gene-specific is for gene type Ⅰ and Ⅴ, and pan-genotypic is mainly for all genotypes, so genetic testing should be carried out before treatment.
Once suffering from hepatitis C, it is necessary to follow the doctor’s instructions to carry out a sufficient amount and course of medication in order to promote early recovery.
