The efficacy of Hanxia Laxing Xin Tang (半夏泻心汤) is to calm cold and heat, eliminate lumps and dissipate lumps. It is used for treating lumps that are mixed with cold and heat (both cold and heat symptoms are present in the same patient), and the dosage may vary depending on the severity of the individual’s condition and the practitioner’s experience in the use of the medicine. Semixia Diarrhea Heart Tang is composed of Semixia, Scutellaria baicalensis, dry ginger, Radix et Rhizoma Ginseng, Rhizoma Coptidis, Fructus Jujubae, Radix et Rhizoma Glycyrrhizae, with the effects of calming cold and heat, eliminating plaques and dispersing lumps. It is mainly used for treating lumpy syndromes with mixed cold and heat. Half-summer is the ruler, dispersing lumps and removing lumps; dry ginger warms the spleen and stomach in the middle jiao to disperse cold; scutellaria and Huang Huanglian drain heat and open lumps; ginseng and jujube are used to replenish the spleen; licorice is used to replenish the spleen and harmonize the middle jiao. It is often used clinically to treat symptoms such as plumpness under the heart (mainly referring to distension and discomfort in the stomach), but fullness without pain, or vomiting, intestinal tinnitus and discharging of bowels, with greasy and slightly yellowish tongue coating. It can also be used in chronic colitis, chronic hepatitis, acute and chronic gastroenteritis, early cirrhosis of the liver, etc., which are characterized by cold and heat interconnections. Semixia Diarrheal Heart Soup should not be used in cases of plumpness under the heart due to stagnation of qi or accumulation of food (food that is indigested and stagnates in the stomach).
