Can you get moxibustion when you have a cold?

In general, you can use moxibustion for a cold, but if a person with a cold has a deficiency of yin and fire, moxibustion is usually not recommended for treatment. Clinical symptoms of a cold include headache, nasal congestion, runny nose, sneezing, malignant cold (fear of cold), fever, and floating pulse. For patients with wind-cold and cold, commonly used moxibustion points include Fengchi, Fengmen, Liejiao, and Hegu. For those with wind-cold and dampness, Yin Ling Quan is added; for those with Qi deficiency, Foot San Li is added; and for those with body pain, the loom is added. For patients with wind-heat cold, the commonly used moxibustion points are Fengchi, Daxi, Quchi and Waiguan. For sore throat, add Shaoshang; for cough, add Shakuzawa and Tiantu; for headache, add Yintang and Sun. Patients with colds who need to use moxibustion are advised to go to a professional medical institution.
