The meridians of the human body are the twelve main meridians and the eight odd meridians. There are 361 acupoints. The Eight Channels of the Qi Meridian are the Chong Chakra, the Belt Chakra, the Ren Chakra, the Directing Chakra, the Yin Wei Chakra, the Yang Wei Chakra, the Yin Stilts Chakra, and the Yang Stilts Chakra. According to “Acupuncture and Moxibustion”, there are 361 acupoints, which are usually categorized into fourteen meridian points, extra-meridian points, and a-shi points (points with distinctive sensations of acidity, numbness, distension, and pain). Fourteen meridian points refer to acupuncture points that have a fixed name and location and are attributed to the twelve main meridians and the Ren and Du veins. Extra meridian points are acupoints that are not attributed to the fourteen meridians, but have a fixed location and name. A-shi points (points with obvious sensations of acidity, numbness, distension and pain) are acupuncture points without a fixed name and location, but only with a pressure point or a positive reaction point as the acupuncture site.
