Cupping is a characteristic external treatment method of Chinese medicine, which has the effect of unblocking the meridians, moving Qi and blood, reducing swelling and relieving pain. It is often used clinically for treating painful conditions such as shoulder, neck, back, lumbar pain or rheumatism, and for patients with atopic skin diseases. There is also a special cupping method – flash cupping, which means that the jar is removed immediately after cupping, and so repeatedly sucked and cupped several times until the skin is flushed, which can effectively treat clinical pain in the shoulder, neck, back and waist and relieve clinical symptoms.
