Is it normal for the discharge to turn bright red one month after delivery?

Bright red color of postnatal discharge one month after delivery is not normal and requires prompt intervention. With the gradual recovery of the uterus, blood and necrotic membranes are discharged through the vagina, resulting in the formation of postnatal discharge. Normal discharge lasts for about 6 weeks and is cleared on the 42nd day after delivery. The earliest bloody discharge lasts for 3-4 days, followed by plasma discharge which lasts for about 10 days, and finally white discharge which lasts for about 3 weeks. So 1 month postpartum should be the stage of white colored discharge and there should not be bright red blood. Some of the causes of this condition may be incomplete uterine rejuvenation, retained placenta membranes in the uterine cavity, poorly healed cesarean section incision, poorly healed soft birth canal laceration etc. If there is a combination of infection, there is an increase in bloody discharge with odor, along with abdominal pain, fever, and even systemic symptoms of infection. Depending on the cause of the infection, the uterus can be cleared, uterine contractions can be injected, and surgery can be performed to repair poorly healed incisions.
