How is diabetes treated in the early stages?

The latest flow of data shows that the prevalence of type 2 diabetes in China has soared to an alarming 9.7%. Diabetes is a chronic progressive disease that requires lifelong treatment and causes many inconveniences to patients’ lives. Early intensification, as confirmed by clinical studies, can benefit patients for a long time. In patients with first-onset diabetes, the benefits obtained from early insulin intensive therapy, have been validated through clinical studies. Although early intensive therapy nowadays does not only refer to insulin intensification, either approach emphasizes good early glycemic control. In patients with first-onset diabetes, depending on blood glucose levels, physicians will develop different glucose-lowering treatment plans. For some patients with high blood glucose at first onset, insulin is applied at the beginning, which is called early insulin intensive treatment. Although many patients do not understand and somewhat reject it, once it is adopted, they all get a good prognosis and the satisfaction of the later treatment is also high. As long as patients can have a scientific and rational attitude toward early treatment, actively cooperate with doctors, and strive to get good control of blood sugar in the early stage of the disease (the “golden period” of treatment), they will definitely strive for the best results for the future.
