Gallbladder polyps requiring surgical treatment

There are two types of gallbladder polyps that require surgical treatment, the first is symptomatic, such as epigastric pain, bloating after meals, etc., indicating gallbladder polyps with cholecystitis. The second situation is asymptomatic gallbladder polyps, which also need surgery if one of the following conditions: (1) polyps with diameter of 1cm or more; (2) polyps growing rapidly in a short period of time or multiple polyps; (3) polyps growing in the neck of the gallbladder; (4) polyps suspected to be cancerous. However, it should be noted that some hospitals nowadays only do the surgery of polypectomy and preserving the gallbladder. This type of surgery is not reasonable and is not internationally accepted. Currently, the internationally accepted procedure is still laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
