Coix Seed and Houpu Decoction is a decoction of Coix Seed and Houpu Decoction, there is no specific proportion of the two, and the dosage should be determined in accordance with the doctor’s prescription.
Job’s tears are effective in strengthening the spleen, stopping diarrhea, removing paralysis, draining pus, inducing diuresis and seeping dampness (promoting the flow of water to get rid of dampness), and detoxifying and dispersing knots. It is used for edema, dysuria (unsmooth urination), athlete’s foot, diarrhea due to spleen deficiency, lung carbuncle, warts (sarcoma on the skin), intestinal carbuncle (carbuncle occurring in the intestines and bowels, manifested by fever, pain in the right abdomen, and palpable lump), etc. It is also used to relieve diarrhea by strengthening the spleen.
Hau Pu has the effects of lowering qi and removing fullness (allowing qi to flow downward to relieve distension and discomfort), drying dampness and eliminating phlegm. It is used in treating phlegm (a pathological product of impaired metabolism of water and fluid), cough, abdominal distension, food stagnation (accumulation of food in the stomach due to indigestion), and constipation.
The adverse effects of the above drugs are not known. Be cautious of taking Houpu in pregnant women with Qi deficiency, fluid injury and blood depletion. Caution should be exercised when there is deficiency of spleen without dampness, dry stools and pregnant women.
Patients who are not feeling well are advised to consult the doctor in time and standardize the treatment. Self-medication is not recommended to avoid delaying the condition.
