Children who fall on the back of the head may have damage to the skull and may not show obvious symptoms, or vomiting and other symptoms may occur within 3 days and need to be closely observed for 3 days, but the exact time of vomiting and other juxtapositions is related to different degrees of craniocerebral injuries.
If the fall is not particularly serious, the child’s head is only a slight scalp hematoma, may not vomit.
If the craniocerebral injury is more serious, resulting in intracranial hemorrhage, the corresponding manifestations will soon appear, such as vomiting, depression, or even coma, the symptoms will be aggravated with the growth of time, the amount of bleeding increases, and may even cause increased intracranial pressure, triggering nausea, vomiting and other discomforts of the manifestations, and, if it is more serious, it may also cause coma.
Children who fall on the back of the head may be at risk of delayed cerebral hemorrhage, and close clinical observation for three days is generally recommended. Therefore, even if the child does not show any physical discomfort, parents should try to take the child to the hospital for a brain examination to find out the extent of the head injury.
