For the T-SPOT test, it mainly reflects the presence or absence of Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection. If the T-SPOT test is positive, then it is indicative of an infection with Mycobacterium tuberculosis, but it cannot tell if the infection is previous or recent. If the T-SPOT test is negative, then tuberculosis infection is not considered. A positive T-SPOT test result also needs to be combined with the patient’s clinical symptoms, pulmonary imaging and other blood test results to make a comprehensive analysis. If there are typical symptoms of tuberculosis poisoning or lung CT suggesting possible tuberculosis and the T-SPOT test is also positive, anti-tuberculosis treatment can be performed.
