American ginseng has the effect of nourishing yin, moisturizing the lungs, nourishing blood and tonifying qi. The effect of taking the medicine varies according to individual’s physique. American ginseng in water is not as effective as decoction.
American ginseng, also known as American ginseng, is cool in nature, sweet in taste and slightly bitter, and belongs to the spleen, lung, heart and kidney meridians. It has the efficacy of nourishing yin and moisturizing the lung, nourishing blood and replenishing qi, and is used in treating deficiency of qi and yin, deficiency of heat and tiredness, coughing, phlegm and blood, internal heat and thirst (internal fever accompanied by symptoms such as eating more, drinking more and urinating more), and dryness of mouth and pharynx.
American ginseng in water is effective in treating symptoms such as lack of energy, palpitations and insomnia, post-sickness deficiency and loss of appetite. American ginseng should not be used with strong tea or radish. Eating American ginseng with radish or strong tea will weaken its effect of tonifying qi. It is not suitable for pregnant women.
