The sternal stalk is a part of the human sternum. The sternum is divided into three parts, the uppermost being the position of the sternal stalk, the middle and most of the lower middle being the position of the sternal body, and the lower part of the sternal body being the position of the sternal scaphoid process. The uppermost part of the sternal stalk is connected to the clavicle to form the sternoclavicular joint, below the sternoclavicular joint is the first sternoclavicular joint, below the first sternoclavicular joint is the second sternoclavicular joint, and the second rib of the human body is exactly at the junction of the sternal stalk and the sternal body, this position is also called the stalk joint. So the uppermost part of the approximate range of the sternal stalk is the uppermost part of the sternoclavicular joint, the widest part is the position of the first sternoclavicular joint, and the lowermost part is the second position, and the whole of the sternal stalk resembles an unequal hexagon, thus constituting the structure of these joints.
