The reference values for gamma-glutamyltransferase are 11-50 U/L for men and 7-32 U/L for women. a value of 200 is still serious. Elevated values are commonly found in biliary tract obstructive diseases, acute and chronic viral hepatitis, acute and chronic alcoholic hepatitis, and so on. 1. Biliary tract obstructive disease: primary biliary cirrhosis, sclerosing cholangitis leads to bile stasis and obstruction of bile discharge, which can cause γ-glutamyl transferase to rise. 2. Acute and chronic viral hepatitis: γ-glutamyltransferase is elevated in acute hepatitis; if it is elevated in chronic hepatitis, it suggests that the lesion is active or the condition is deteriorating. 3. Acute and chronic alcoholic hepatitis: significant elevation of γ-glutamyl transferase is an important feature of alcoholic liver disease, which can be decreased after quitting alcohol. Elevated γ-glutamyltransferase may also be caused by drug-induced hepatitis, fatty liver, hepatocellular carcinoma, pancreatitis, etc. It is recommended that the cause of the disease be clarified with the help of a doctor and targeted treatment or therapy be carried out.
