Can insufficient lung energy cause insomnia?

Lung Qi deficiency may lead to insomnia. Insomnia is mainly caused by factors such as uncontrolled diet, abnormal emotions and feelings, over-thought and old age and physical weakness, which lead to restlessness of the heart and mind or lack of concentration of the mind and spirit. Its main locus of disease is in the heart, which is more closely related to the liver, spleen and kidneys. The heart and the lungs are closely related in the relationship between qi and blood, with the heart dominating the blood of the body and the lungs dominating the qi of the body. Insufficient lung qi will result in weak blood circulation, which will lead to loss of heart nourishment (heart losing nourishment) and symptoms of insomnia. Lung qi deficiency may also affect the spleen, resulting in a deficiency of both the lungs and the spleen, which affects the production of qi and blood, leading to insomnia due to a loss of nourishment for the heart and spirit. Lung qi deficiency may also involve the liver, leading to liver qi stagnation (poor qi and blood transportation in the liver, emotional depression), which over time turns into fire and disturbs the mind, resulting in insomnia. Patients are advised not to worry too much, and to go to the hospital for consultation and treatment if symptoms of lung qi deficiency occur, and not to take medication at will.
