Blackheads (pimples) and whiteheads (pimples) are both clinical manifestations of acne. The difference lies in clinical symptoms, causes of formation and damage to the skin. 1. Clinical symptoms: Both will appear on the skin as pimples the size of a grain, but the two can be easily distinguished by their color, with blackheads having a small black spot at the top and whiteheads having a white surface or being covered by the skin. 2. Reason for formation: Both forms come up because of the excessive proliferation of keratinocytes at the opening of the hair follicle, resulting in sebum, cellular debris and other substances that can not be discharged, and gradually harden and form. However, whiteheads do not come into contact with the air, so they are often the original color of grease and other substances when squeezed out; while the sebum contents of blackheads can come into contact with the air, and the tops are oxidized and turned black. 3. Damage to the skin: blackheads and whiteheads also have different damage to the skin. Whiteheads are more likely to cause inflammation and lead to inflammatory pimples, nodules and even cysts, while blackheads tend to clog pores and gradually make them larger. When patients have blackheads or whiteheads, it is recommended that they go to a regular hospital in time and receive standardized treatment under the guidance of a doctor, and at the same time, they should pay attention to daily facial hygiene, and eat less oily and irritating food.
