How to treat left vertebral artery stenosis

For the treatment of left vertebral artery stenosis, the first step should be to clarify the degree of stenosis of the left vertebral artery and recommend that the patient undergo cerebral angiography. Because cerebral angiography is by far the gold standard for vertebral artery stenosis, if the stenosis of the left vertebral artery is greater than 70% but does not reach the point of complete stenosis, stenting is recommended. If the stenosis of the left vertebral artery is less than 70% or the left vertebral artery is completely stenosed, stenting is not possible, but the patient can be treated with relevant medications, such as aspirin or clopidogrel for antiplatelet, and atorvastatin calcium tablets to stabilize the plaque and prevent further stenosis of the vertebral artery.
